<.>

To address my endometriosis, my doctor wants to force me into temporary menopause at age 32. In the 20 years since my monthly friend first came to visit, I've hated it. Not having my period was the highlight of my pregnancy (that, and the baby and the ice cream). Now I'm being told that we must chemically repress it.

Parting is such sweet sorrow.

When I first read about the pill that would end periods, I thought it was a great idea but that it must be too good to be true--surely having your period is healthy, right? My doctor's view was different, especially given my uterus troubles--'Did you think the hemorrhaging that's made you suffer
all this was HEALTHY?' No, I guess not. And looks like we're about to be inundated with 'studies' characterizing periods as unhealthy so at least I'll have some positive reinforcement.

So I googled Lupron, the drug that's supposed to make this better, and learned:

Side effects of Lupron: difficulty urinating; bone pain; numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs or arms; hot flashes or sweating; decreased libido or impotence; lack of energy; depression; breast enlargement; nausea or vomiting; constipation; weakness; dizziness; headache; redness, burning, itching, or swelling at the injection site.

Nice. I’m meeting with my doctor on Friday for post op and to discuss this wonder drug, let’s see how it goes.
